Transfer Service
You may transfer service at a location where Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative service has previously existed in person or over the phone at 1-866-392-2547.
You will need:

Application Form - sign and turn in application form. Download Application Form (PDF).

The meter number at the location.

The meter number is 5 or 6 digit number. 5 digit meter numbers are printed on a silver strip across the meter. 6 digit meter numbers are printed on the meter and are followed by "DETEC."

Two forms of Identification- drivers license, social security card, etc.

Deposit - Deposits are determined based on the average monthly bill at the location. Deposits are double the monthly average bill. Please call Member Services at 1-866-392-2547 for detailed deposit information.

or, already be a member of DETEC in good standing - during the last twelve (12) months of consecutive service applicant was not delinquent on more than two (2) occasions and never had service disconnected for non-payment and is not presently delinquent in payment of an account with the utility

or, Letter of Credit - letter of credit from another electric utility which states that during the last twelve (12) months of consecutive service applicant was not delinquent on more than two (2) occasions and never had service disconnected for non-payment and is not presently delinquent in payment of an account with the utility.

or, Letter of Guarantee - in writing, a satisfactory guarantee from a member in good standing of DETEC to secure payment of bills for electric service.

or, over 65 - furnish proof that applicant is 65 years of age or older and does not have an outstanding balance with an electric company for residential service which occurred in the last two years.

Membership Fee and Connect Fee

Membership Fee - $10: Membership with Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is established with a one-time $10 refundable membership fee.

Connect Fee - $35: The Connection Fee is a one-time fee for connecting your meter.

Disconnect a Service
Disconnects may be processed in person or over the phone at 1-866-392-2547.
Please have your account number(s) handy and be able to provide identification, forwarding address and phone numbers where you can be reached for final bill reciepts and/or deposit returns.
